After a foil-lined cap is tightened onto the plastic jug, the container travels along a conveyor and passes beneath an induction sealing head. Seconds later, removing the cap reveals a foil membrane firmly bonded across the opening.
The sealing head generates a rapidly alternating electromagnetic field that induces electrical currents within the aluminum foil. The resulting heat activates a polymer sealing layer on the foil, which bonds to the container’s rim as it passes through the machine.
Induction sealing is widely used because it creates a secure barrier without the heating equipment physically touching the container. The finished seal can help prevent leaks, provide visible evidence of opening, and protect the contents during storage and transportation.
