I kind of felt that Taylor and/or Baldoni's team for some reason felt like Blake was going to release the text messages after finding out about the subpoena to Taylor's lawyers, so Baldoni's team had to quickly send the letter to the judge in order to disarm the blackmail. That way, if Blake releases any blackmail material from now on, everyone will know it was her. So now Taylor can cooperate freely without the danger of Blake leaking anything. And that's why he dropped the subpoena.
