May allah bless him... I've been suffering from the same problem for years... I am partially deaf in my right year and other other ear is completely normal, alhamdulillah... I know how it feels when you try your best but still fail to hear things right and end up upsetting others. The pity in the eyes of loved ones, the joke that wasn't mean to hurt but hurt anyway - I know how bad it feels. It's never easy being in the crowd and talking to someone. I just hope he's okay.
