When they didn't respond to breaking the BDS boycott when their fans were so upset about it... I got the message pretty clearly tbh... plus sadly their latest album was bad ? I loved them for years but they are capitalists at the end of the day

Goodness. You all must be looking for perfect idol. Don't read too much  into pop stars or any entertainers...they work for largely fame and money...like you all. You do what you do at the time with what you know. Because they are not following your agenda, doesn't mean they are against your agenda. Everything is upto a point. I wish you find someone to follow and act your perfect agenda because you are so perfect...

Everything recent is so disappointing to me as a long time fan of their work from about 2019. Now, I was VERY young when I first started listening to them, and am still quite young now. I understand back in 2013 there was a lot of things wrong with the overall industry and some of the members were literal teenagers and may have actually been told to do something because of management. RM speaking English fluently always rubbed me the wrong way when it came to the blatant racism, but I do understand that he did grow up in Korea and may not have understood fully about the damage that had been done. That I think is fair to still have held them accountable for, but because the members were all so young and under management, it isn’t fair to assume the blame is entirely on them. But currently, they are one of if not the biggest bands in the world. Ignoring the money aspect, their influence is international. AI could affect their careers, but it will never affect it to the same extent of someone who had just lost their job because companies felt AI could do it better. Or the people who live in these awful conditions created by the massive energy and water usage to use these generative AI tools. Some people ARE required to use them for work, and it is hypocritical to immediately hate on someone for the use of AI, but in creative spaces I think it is certainly justified to criticize as well as thinking about the sheer scale of the fan base. It’s incredibly disappointing. The youngest of them is pushing thirty, meaning all the members are well into their thirties or late twenties. I am much younger than they are, and I feel like they should, as grown men, start being held accountable for what they currently endorse. It does not make their past mistakes okay, but I think now it is even more important to hold them accountable and responsible for these matters, and stop pretending as though it isn’t that deep, as some would like to say.

Let me be clear: their company acquired *TAG PR* if they “didn’t know” about Chris Brown’s history (I call bs on that) they definitely do now. Yet the only thing they’ve done so far is do a bunch of manipulative posts with either photos of fans cheering them on (sending a signal to amass unconditional support) or thirst traps to feed the shippers so that they’ll flood the tags with edits and reposts about that instead. I don’t think they think very highly of their fans’s intelligence but then again, I wouldn’t either if they had been nothing but yesmen for the entirety of my career.

What did BTS do wrong? They simply attended a concert. Of course, I am well aware of the significant influence that comes with their status and profile. However, rather than demanding an apology from BTS, the right approach is to inform them about the problematic aspects of Chris Brown's behavior.
Let me give you an example: just because Michael Jackson took a photo with Trump, it doesn't mean he endorsed the Epstein scandal, right?
BTS does not maintain an ongoing relationship with Chris Brown; they simply went to enjoy the music. I hope people won't be too harsh on them, as their intentions were not malicious.

I haven’t experienced violence myself, but I’m sure that a large number of the Army have. That’s enough for me to demand consistency and reciprocity. My heart is broken.

This is a problem with the vast majority of kpop artists tbh. They have an international career but don't take that into consideration when it comes to NOT doing things. If you're doing world tours with hundreds of thousands of people paying to see your music, you have the duty to stick your head out of South Korea and peep around. It's quite likely that Korean fans don't know or don't care about Chris Brown's crimes. But t
most of their fans are *not* Korean.

Look, BTS has built an entire brand around self-love, anti-violence and a fanbase made predominantly of women. Choosing to attend a concert for a man with a documented history of severe domestic violence isn’t "just a music taste preference" it’s a slap in the face to their own fans. Also, let's just stop lowering our moral standards just to protect grown men from valid criticism.

I'm so tired.. Nobody cares about this but I just want to get it out. BTS used to mean so much to me in a way I can't even begin to get into. I didn't always know about their controversies and when I found out sometimes I would do the mental gymnastics of defending them (to myself), not without criticism but so I could still enjoy their music and content because it literally helped me survive (dramatic, I know). I don't have social media and I haven't really been an active army for years. Now... with all this.. on top of everything else.. I'm so done, done in a way where I resign from the army after 13 years lol, I feel my emotional attachment to them and their work has been irreversibly severed.

This is my first time I am watching a video of you, and I want to say a couple of things. I genuinly see that you are a young man who knows a lot of things, who cares and wants things to change. BTS got their fair and unfair share of critisicms for 13 years now, but I have never seen a group of Artists being attacked this much like BTS and also never seen a group where their Fanbase creates a community is so diverse/active and does so much good for the world. They even say themselves again and again that they are not so perfect as we imagine they are and that we should stop putting them on pedestals. I think BTS is the best reflection of our own hypocrisy as people. We want things to change for the better but we don't want to be the ones who initiate the first step. We are fingerpointing at other countries and their politics but allowing our own country to be led by a racist, pedophile and murderous piece of shit. We want artists to boycott certain companys but we use the same products every effing day, voluntarily or unvoluntarily. The excuse that they have the most influence is only true to a certain degree, it's the influence you allow yourself to be taken on, until you start using your own brain and comparing it with your own values. Maybe we should stop giving so much power and control over to other people and instead waiting for them to fight the fight, we should start to fight for what's right.

So ofc those of us who are in this sector of the fandom are going to be pissed off. You can't be preaching for almost a decade progressive/lefty values but then not act accordingly. So yeah, the "we respect women" ethos rings a little hollow if followed by a public picture with a decades long abuser of women.

What's also killing me is that they know the impact of doing these things. Jimin said somewhere in an interview that BTS themselves have to be cautious about what influences that support since ARMYs are the ones that get impacted and said something about how it's nice that our actions get seen and 'I hope that we do more positive influences for ARMYs.' Like you would think RM, being a man who's read introspective books and once boasts about his 148iq, would understand how shitty the situation at hand is. BTS's  frontal lobes have already been formed, they're literally thirty, you have to be so delusional to not believe that BTS didn't have any choices in the matter of that Gemini ad and that Chris Brown Concert (don't even get me started with V hanging out with that squid games guy that was convicted of Rape a few years a go).

So, then Jesse Owens should not have attended the Olympics when Nazi Germany hosted it? Look up why he did folks. Same w/ Mexico @ FIFA? What makes the dream, opportunity any less? Mind u Fox sports did them dirty.

What gives anyone one the right to tell someone what to do? What to like? Its naive, entitled. Either side of this. You are equating this to being in the room while all these past events happened. Go find some missing children and make finding them newsworthy.

Disappointing momments of course. Do i listen to CB since that happened. HELL NO! but enforce my opinions on a group? I chuckle b/c when they flex its BTS is a group and they shouldn't be speaking on this or that. They should just be a band and have their fun and stay out of things.

If they are just staying out of things and enjoying life, its how dare they. they have a platform etc.

As artists they don't have to but they are part of Hybe w/ stockholders and are responsible to those employed at the company and those owning stock. Not to mention all the traders making coin legally and illegally using their name.

So, 13 years of how they've lived their lives, what they've contributed and supported is lost on the taking of 1 picture...hmmm. fascinating.

People need to remember for them how CB performed and did his art inspired them. Just like MJ and every other artist that sang about abuse, drugs and dealing. Many of the posts are probably anti fans fanning flames but remember different country.

About AI its going to happen. So BTS/Hybe is taking their money & choosing the narrative since everyone is using their image w/o their concent. Its their machiavellian right. What i hope is there is a call from them in carving out human rights on businesses to limits and regulations on AI use. Covid reduced the workforce to jump Robotics &AI ahead w/o oversight.

Are u seriously holding BTS accountable for changing the tide?Naive. Can they sit on boards or speak to governments for laws, yes
Can they dictatate certain things and be the working example for other companies and governments to employ yes. Don't sit and wait for BTS. Get out in your own gov'ts and boards. Use AI to mass generate anti AI promo.

Both of these choices are being downplayed by most ARMY's. AI is causing further climate change which literally is killing people around the world, and it's stripping people of their rights, but BTS don't care because it won't affect them because they're now rich and powerful. Chris Brown doesn't have a "controversial past", he has assaulted multiple women, sexually and physically, he nearly killed Rihanna, she and another one of his ex's both have restraining orders on him because they feared for their lives. I have a 7 tattoo, I've supported BTS with thousands of pounds and years of time and energy, I don't think I can let this slide at all and nor should anyone else who claims to care about women or equality of any kind. It's so so sad. Me and my friends literally were assaulted on the way home from BTS concert last month, would they also shake that guys hands and rub our faces in it like with Chris Brown? also, totally agree, Chris unsettles me and I truly think he will end up killing a woman.

we need to be reminded again of what an artistic persona is. Say what you want, but they aren't what they show to the public. We have seen this type of thing happen over and over again and still believe in it. For example, for someone who has studied Feminist theory etc, RM surely has worked with very "interesting" people. It's all a Facade so they can exploit their fans. We've seen this happen time and time again. It's all of them. A band that supposedly supports human rights, among other things, is always caught in sketchy shenanigans and collaborations (as a group or even solo). Of course it's not only BTS, but this video is about them and to *me* they are of the most blatant cases. Maybe because they  try to promote so heavily a certain image and two seconds later are caught doing something nasty. Of course humans aren't perfect but there's a limit

First of all, the Rihanna thing was in 2009, RM and J-Hope were 14 at the time and J-Hope probably didn't spoke any English back then. Secondly, in 2009, social media and the internet wasn't as huge as it is now. I remember the BTS members posting vlogs on YouTube as trainees between 2010 and 2013 and they were pretty much pioneers doing this. And you mentioned Wikipedia. Our Wikipedia mentions a whole page of Chris Brown's criminal actions (some are just alleged because he did not get convicted for those - and his latest one was a fight in a bar and he still has to go to court for it); but the Wikipedia page from South Korea just says that they got in a fight and got back together after, nothing more. I heard from Korean people that the news from the Western music industry is barely covered in South Korea, even in Asia. Then BTS owes us nothing. They can do as they please. People put labels on them as role models and leaders and healers, but they're just human, artists, it's an industry, a business, a lot of fakeness and networking. If you need to shame all the Western rappers that have a criminal background, you can cancel more than halve of them. Most ARMYs are just disappointed. The ones that are screaming the loudest are proven to be fans from other K-pop groups pretending to be ARMY. Every time when there's a supposed controversy in regards of BTS, they team up to put BTS in a bad light. So, as I could understand from Korean themselves; they only know Chris Browns music, but don't know his background and not even his face. So it's not unthinkable that RM and J-Hope didn't know about it or at least didn't know the extent of it. And it's not because you like someone's music and think that they're talent that you agree with everything they say or do. Do you know the background of every artist you like or even listen to casually? Do you know all the artists that had a collaboration with an artist with a criminal background? Do you like Michael Jackson or at least think he had talent? He got a troubled past too with a lot of controversy. The whole K-pop industry looks up to him and takes inspiration from him. Better cancel them all then. And it was also Usher's concert. It's likely that he invited them, since Jungkook had a song with him. So it's not just black or white. There are nuances to be made and a lot are just speculations and assumptions...

I think you're just using this whole BTS and Chris Brown issue as an excuse to throw hate at them. I think you've disliked them for a long time for your own personal reasons, and you're just riding the wave to hate on them. Everything you said, look, I've been an ARMY for 10 years, I've never babied them, I know they've done a lot of messed up stuff, but you talk about it in a completely ridiculous and stupid way. They can't just say no to things. Anyone in the fandom and anyone who is an ARMY knows that BTS lost control and never actually had control over their brand. That involves contracts, shows, tours, albums. It's only recently with the new album that they finally got creative freedom to do what they wanted to do. That devil Bang PD, right? Basically, BTS used to be his golden goose, Big Hit, they are the ones who made Big Hit into HYBE, into what it is today, but Bang PD controls everything. And we know he's an extremely problematic old man who only cares about money, which is what happened in the Love Yourself era too, right? So honestly, I don't think you know what you're talking about. They don't have creative control over where they tour or who they collaborate with for brand deals like McDonald's. BTS aren't the ones making those decisions. They can't just go, 'Oh, I'm going to say no.' It's Bang PD, it's the people who manage their careers; it's not that simple for them to just say no. as someone living in Korea - I don't know anyone who is suspicious of AI here, even when it comes to creative industries. I'm sure they exist, but AI is so extremely accepted here that Suga's comments are not any surprise to me. I hope the backlash has an impact, but literally if they and their company are like every other marketer or business in Korea they won't understand it and all of the knetz will be eating this up. especially when you consider like 56% of Korea's economy depends on Samsung and SK Hynix and their chip/semiconductor sales ?

I don't care much for the Chris Brown thing because other peoples music taste is what it is. Hiphop and RnB got so much controversies yet I keep listening because it's fucking amazing music. Like I'd probably go to a Snoop Dogg concert and that man was so close to Diddy that their kids grew up together.

R.M mocked a religion--which hurt many of his fans yet he doubled down instead of owning up to that and apologizing.
The collabed with zioni*st brands in the middle of ethnic cleansing and apar*theid being supported by those very brands.

I’m part of the small majority of international fans that were with BTS from day 1. I’ve watched my mom endure brutal domestic abuse, I’ve gone through assault and SA at the hands of men like Chris Brown. Idk what I’d do if I saw them posted up with the men that did that harm to me and my mom.

The reason they are dripped out, the reason they sit in those lavish houses, the reason why they’re able to support their families is because of us; their majority female fanbase.

It’s disrespect of the highest order to do an about face on the morals that they told us they have. Think of Megan, imagine her face when her collaborators, people she’s made money with, art with, shared fans with sees them posted up with the guy that’s like “free the guy that shot Megan”.

    It’s blatant disrespect.

As a 54-year-old BTS fan since 2016, thank you for this illuminating, well-documented video. HYBE and BTS must learn to say "no" and truly align their actions with their message. We all make mistakes, but growth is key for true personal development - I certainly don't envy the intense public scrutiny they face but there is a level of responsibility that does come with being in the public eye to this extent. While fans can debate what BTS knew about Chris Brown or Diplo beforehand, they certainly know now. As the saying goes, "when you know better, you do better." At this stage in their careers, BTS must ensure their collaborations and associations match who they claim to be.

This is for sure the nail in the coffin and I'm really disappointed but the industry as a whole is just really off putting.... the whole breast cancer event, the plagiarism of black artists music, that has been the backbone of all of kpop and is still on-going, the sexism, the racism, the way grown adults are treated like babies who can do no wrong....

Everyone has a right to their opinion! So this is mine. We as Armies has seen BTS started from bottom and rise to the top now. BTS are huge influencers and can change culture  movements. Through out BTS career , they were mocked, mistreated, misunderstood, bullied, racially discriminated. And now that BTS finally made it big . Some Fake Armies wants to hate on BTS for things that they don’t like about BTS . You don’t get to control BTS every movement, just because you’re a fan. They are human beings too. They make mistakes like we do ! Humans are born to make mistakes! That’s a fact ! Just because you’re a fan and every time BTS does something you don’t like you want to shame them! If this is you . Than you don’t need to support them or go to their concerts, listen to their music anymore. It’s bad enough that there are other fandoms, that are hating on BTS and jealous of their success. BTS doesn’t need to answer or have your permission to do anything. Just like BTS doesn’t ask Armies to tell them every single thing we do. All they say is Thank you for supporting them and standing by their side. ??

How are you gonna say you don't use AI but then do a collab with them and promote it at the same time? How are you gonna show yourself as feminist who reads feminist books and all that, but then attend a concert of someone who is well known to be a woman beater? if they know who Rihanna and Chris Brown are, they know what has happened in their past as well. They have come to US enough times to understand the controversies Chris Brown has been in. I still love BTS, but at the same time, I should be able to criticize them. In my opinion, it's more toxic when you blindly support everything a person does than point out the mistakes and hold them accountable.

A love that blindly supports everything the other person does is toxic. True love is when we can hold the loved ones accountable and correct them if they are doing something wrong. I've been a fan before BTS became famous in the west. BTS have been in the game for years now, they themselves have women relatives and a majority women fanbase. Music is music, but when you voluntarily post about a figure who is controversial and has been in multiple scandals about abusing women, idk man, maybe you should think twice before posting or going to their concert. When Army makes a mistake, BTS have always come forward and corrected us, we should be able to do the same. I love BTS, they have been my role models for a very long time. You can love someone from the bottom of your heart and still correct them if they do something wrong. that doesn't mean we are getting a "cleanse" as people are saying online, that's a bit of a extreme statement. I am not leaving the fandom, but that also doesn't mean I blindly support everything they do either. I hope they take this opportunity to think of this as feedback and learn from this rather than seeing this as another unnecessary backlash online.

On the AI collab: We did talk/pressure then/their company out of a similarly dumbsh*t NFT proposed campaign several years ago.  I'm sure the contract with Google is way tighter, but I hope they step out of it as much as they can.  Because What. The. Actual.  F*ck.

And yes, a BUNCH of us are paying enough attention to be nauseated about Diplo existing in the BTS-creative-sphere ?.

'Hoping that the creative decisions they make in the future can be done at a slower pace (than they've worked under up until now) and with more back-checking/consideration for context.

My whole thing is… they’ve been like this. As a once BTS fan, Black ARMYs literally were harassed for pointing out blatant hypocrisy and racism for years in fandom spaces. It truly speaks to a broader messages I’ve seen about how the Asian community in general doesn’t involve themselves in topics of racism and classism (unless it directly involves themselves). There’s almost like a distance from any broader conversation and they’re hellbent on remaining in their bubble. I say that as someone who finds it absolutely disheartening to see a subgenre that is derived from Black culture be treated as a surface level category to cash grab. They don’t talk about our history, they don’t talk about our present day problems, they don’t care about our future by who they align themselves with. It’s just so draining as a Black fan of anything and anyone. Everyone is in their own bubble that they don’t want to burst.

RM has always had issues with allegations of plagiarism, misogyny, racism, etc. but he makes his apologies and his fans justify and excuse him, BTS fans infantilize them when it benefits them and declare their maturity & masculinity when it suits them to a fault! Their company deflects and protects them from mistakes they shouldn’t be making cuz they’re their cash cows! Cultural appropriation and racism has always been a problem in K-pop and they make their apologies ONLY when there’s backlash but there’s never any growth or education! Rm, I feel gives a lot of lip service but there’s no real sincerity as you’ve shown and proven but his fans will surely make excuses for him! I’m sure most K-pop fanaticals do it for their faves but enough is enough, they must ALL be called out! Being Korean is no excuse for NOT knowing about history, social history/norms/acceptances and racism! Everyone else in the world knows but South Korea doesn’t? Gmafb ?

I followed them few years after that and then the whole scandal with Burning Sun and Seungri came up. I was well aware that I didn't know these people but to hear Seungri was one of the main perpetrators in that scandal.. Knowing he was THAT evil was a slap to me.

What I'm trying to say is.. You may think BTS/these men as wholesome or whatever but you don't actually know how they are in private.
I know there are statistics about Korean men being violent as that's why there's a huge feminist movement on South Korea these past few years. But I could not think that maybe just maybe some of these BTS members are just the same as Seungri in private. Idk.

I wish people could stop infantilizing grown men. You would think the fact they've gone through military service would have helped people to accept that fact but nope. And anyone saying the BTS members didn't get properly informed about Chris Brown's actions, please stop. The BTS guys are all around 30, the domestic violence PROOFS WERE EVERYWHERE and no matter what you'll find the explicit pics on the internet really easily. They're amongst the most powerful bands in one of the most toxic and predatory environments in the world. They know and don't care as long as they can make money out of it. They don't care about one of the most influential female artist that greatly influenced their own music and culture and they don't care. They wouldn't care more about you if you were to live through similar events despite what you'd like to think because you have some kind of parasocial relationship with them. Remember the Korean breast cancer gala/concert? That should have been the last straw.

BTS has never had good morals. It's just that their fans always lie for them and try to drown out any controversy they've ever been in. All it takes is some simple research to find video evidence of their problematic behaviour. Saying slurs multiple times, being colorist, cultural appropriation, misogyny, wearing N4zi attire, having a photoshoot at a memorial for holoc**st victims, using a Jim Jones' speech for their music, having a DUI, working with/being friends with known ab*sers + even IDF soldiers & more...

But the thing is, they were obviously big enough fans to want to go see him live - if you like someone enough to go to their concert and post about it, you would know about their PROLIFIC HISTORY OF ABUSE. I've been a fan for close to 6 years now, and have tickets to their concerts next year. This is seriously making me reconsider going, even though I've been wanting to go to their concerts for so long.

It's baffling how many women defend what Nam and Hobi did...

Like, they're always cancelling people for less, but as soon as it involves their favs, nah, blind.

I’m guessing they used Gemini for the latest album cuz it’s just noise music I guess. Anyone that calls the “the boys” don’t bother reasoning with them. They’ll defend them.

Did you ever make a video about Usher doing a concert with Chris Brown? Why all of a sudden there’s this with BTS. You said you’re not even a fan of them but felt compelled to do a video now? They aren’t the only artists to work with CB. Don’t get me wrong, I hate CB. As a long time ARMY, they have sang and danced to CB music for years. No one has ever raised the issue until now. JK has collaborated with Usher and you can’t attend his concert without the other since it’s both their concert.
It’s sad that influencers are hopping on this gossip train to gain views.

Parasocialism is in full effect for a lot of fans still.
They see themselves as being loyal.

I'm so sorry, but we really have to be realistic here, no matter how influential and popular Suga or BTS is, none of them have the power to tell Google, Meta and OpenAI to stop what they're doing, all he can do is not endorse it, but that won't make a big change, there's literally nothing we can do, even if OpenAI shuts down everything today, that still wouldn't fix things. There's literally nothing we can do, theres no way back now

The people who hate BTS and label them hypocrites are the real problem here.
While it is true that they are a highly influential band, you are trying to force them to conform to your own standards.
Did they engage in deep conversations or collaborate on music with Chris Brown? They simply attended a concert and enjoyed the music.
Would you accuse Michael Jackson of being an accomplice in the Epstein scandal just because he took a photo with Trump?
I simply cannot understand the nature of the comments being made right now.
The proper approach would be to inform BTS about Chris Brown's past, rather than resorting to hating them. Why choose hostility toward BTS?
I am neither an ARMY nor a fan of Chris Brown. I simply question whether this irrational behavior—driven by mob mentality—of hating BTS is truly the right path to take.
